In 1986 I returned to Houston, where I lived as a small child, to recapture my early impressions of that time and place. I wanted to recreate the Houston of my past by photographing buildings and neighborhoods from the late 1950s. The older cityscapes in Bayou City, many of which are being destroyed to pave the way for new developments, evoke a timeless chapter of American cities.
